Audit Manager

We are looking to recruit an experienced audit manager, (ACA or ACCA) to manage our audit department and deal with audit compliance matters within our firm.

You need to have strong technical audit and accounting knowledge, as well as excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Reporting directly to the partners, and working closely with our audit partner, the role will involve staff management, client contact, audit planning, review of audit files, hands-on auditing, maintaining the firm's audit standards, and assisting the partners with regulatory and compliance administrative functions.

An excellent salary will be offered to the right candidate, at full market rate and in accordance with experience.

There are also genuine partnership prospects for the successful candidate, although having partnership aspirations is not a requirement for the immediate managerial position.

Personal Tax Manager

We are looking to recruit an experienced, qualified individual to take over the responsibilities of our existing personal tax manager, who will be retiring in the summer of 2008.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for running our mixed tax department and will work closely with our partners, especially our tax partner, who is mainly corporate tax biased. You will also work with our Financial Services team on planning and advisory issues, particularly IHT.

You will need a sound knowledge of Estate and Trust tax matters, and also be familiar with overseas aspects of UK tax. A reasonable working knowledge of UK corporation tax is required and knowledge of VAT matters will be an advantage, but is not essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Overall management of our tax department, reporting to our tax partner;
• Monitoring and organising the flow of self-assessment tax returns;
• Technical supervision of work produced in our tax department;
• Management of tax staff;
• Induction and training of tax staff;
• Involvement in strategic development of our tax department;
• Handling a portfolio of personal tax clients;
• Dealing with complex personal tax cases and Revenue enquiries;
• Advising and meeting clients and potential clients generally;
• Estate and trust tax work;
• Expatriate tax consultancy and compliance;
• Advising on CGT and IHT matters.

PA to Partner – ACA or ACCA Qualified

We have a rare and excellent opportunity for an ambitious qualified accountant to join us as PA to one of our partners, who due to his fast-expanding client base, needs to delegate some responsibilities and share his client work.

This newly-created role will include:

• Correspondence, conversations and meetings with clients;
• Preparation of 'simple' accounts from time to time, especially property management accounts, which is an area of specialisation within this partner's wider portfolio;
• Supervision and review of accounts preparation and audit work;
• Preparation of management accounts for a select number of clients;
• Statutory work for limited company clients, including more demanding assignments for property management companies;
• One-off assignments, including due diligence work and other special projects.
• Information gathering;
• Problem solving.

This role will suit somebody recently qualified and looking for a wide variety of experience and long-term career prospects in a well-established, modern firm, which has a history of promoting from within.

You must be:

• Reliable, honest and trustworthy;
• Personable;
• A good communicator;
• Hands-on and prepared to 'roll your sleeves up'.
• Able to work under pressure.

You will often be working alongside a senior tax PA, so tax experience is useful, but not essential.
