Forestry in Your Pension Plan

For those of you that have set up or are thinking of setting up a SIPP (Self Invested Pension Plan), then you can now invest in an FIM Forestry Trust through your SIPP.

Investing in forestry through your pension plan will allow you to match the longer-term nature of a pension plan with the longer-term nature of a forestry investment. In addition to the tax benefits* you receive from forestry, investing via a SIPP will allow you to obtain tax relief on your contribution. For example, a personal investment of £10,000 in the FIM Timber Growth Fund II will only cost £6,000, if you qualify for 40% income tax relief.

* The return achieved on the physical growth of timber is free from income tax and capital gains tax. Additionally it should provide 100% business property relief from Inheritance Tax after 2 years.
