Tax Senior or Semi-Senior

We have a vacancy in our tax department for a bright, enthusiastic tax assistant, to look after the client portfolio of one of our partners.

The role is 80% personal tax, with some corporate, partnership and estate work as well. Clients range from company directors to property landlords, and self-employed clients in all types of profession including barristers.

Our tax team comprises 5 people, and our total staff complement is around 35 people. We are an Investor In People and fully support tax study, and we also provide structured training both in-house and externally.

We are flexible in terms of experience and qualifications. The right candidate might be ATT or CTA qualified with extensive tax experience, or possibly ACA or ACCA qualified with a desire to transfer into a tax role from a general or audit role within the profession. The main attributes we are looking for are strong communication skills, and the potential to acquire good technical ability.

We require someone who is pro-active, able to work under pressure and to deadlines. You must have excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and must be reliable and efficient.

The role will to an extent be tailored around the experience and qualifications of the person filling it, and a good market-rate salary will be paid commensurate with this.

Your duties will include:
  • Preparing personal tax returns, corporation tax returns and forms P11D;
  • Dealing with clients' queries and corresponding with HM Revenue & Customs and other institutions;
  • Dealing with Revenue tax investigations;
  • Compliance and planning work.
The successful candidate must be computer literate. Knowledge of CCH Tax-Point and MYOB Corp Tax is an advantage but not essential.

Junior Secretary

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Secretary to work in our Admin Dept. We are looking for someone who is reliable, versatile and motivated. Common sense and attention to detail are also important. Your duties will include:

  • Secretary to 1 partner, and assisting other partners and secretaries as required.
  • Secretarial work for our tax department.
  • Reception and switchboard cover when required.
  • Dealing with company formations and maintenance of companies registers (full training given)
  • General administration.

The following skills are required:

  • Good knowledge of Word and word processing skills
  • Basic knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of mail merging an advantage
  • Good communication and organisational skills essential
  • Ability to work as a team player
