Glazers in the Community
Careers advice – it’s
all part of the service
Robert Glazer, a partner at Glazers, has
acted as Finance Director of the Barnet Education Business Partnership
on a voluntary basis for over 10 years. He was recently approached by
them and asked if we could send a couple of Glazers employees to talk
about their careers to groups of 90 “year 10” – 14-15
year old pupils at local schools.
Sophie Lewington, a member of our
Audit team, and Bernice Rubenstein, Glazers’ Marketing Manager,
were the willing volunteers. Both speakers have had diverse careers before
joining Glazers which meant that the pupils benefited from their wide-ranging
insight into the world of work and their knowledge of careers in other
sectors in addition to the job they currently work in.
The pupils were given talks by representatives
from a range of businesses and there was a chance for a more in-depth
discussion with pupils after the presentations. The Glazers staff thoroughly
enjoyed the time spent at the schools and felt that both they and the
pupils gained from the experience. “The scheme is extremely well
run and the Partnership provides a fresh innovative approach for schools”
says Bernice Rubenstein.
